The teachers at West Falmouth Preschool are a team of wonderfully devoted, enthusiastic, nurturing, knowledgeable, and creative individuals who find immense joy in teaching early education. They are truly dedicated to building a solid foundation of life-long learning for their students. Our teachers attend classes and workshops throughout the year, continually embracing professional growth, and sharing the knowledge they gain with our families.
Our exceptional educators consist of a lead teacher/director and a teacher. Each has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, each are qualified by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) for lead teacher status, and each is certified in pediatric first aid and CPR. Together, they have many years of experience in the early development of preschool-aged children. In addition, a teacher assistant accompanies both the Three-Day and Two-Day Program teachers.
Catherine Femino, Director/Lead Teacher
Catherine graduated from Stonehill College in 2004, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a minor in Early Childhood Education. She then went on to earn a Graduate Certificate in Reading from Curry College.
She worked at several institutions prior to moving to Cape Cod. The first being The May Institute in Braintree, where she taught students with a diagnosis of Autism. She then moved work closer to home in Middleboro, and worked as a Lead Teacher at Shepherds Path Road to Learn. Catherine made a final move to South Shore Head Start in Plymouth. It was this move that allowed her to put her Reading Certificate to good use, as she also tutored students at The Story Train Literacy Center in Middleboro.
She gave up her teaching career to be a stay at home mom when her first of three daughters was born. With her youngest entering Kindergarten, Catherine realized it was time to get back to the profession she loves!
Catherine lives in Falmouth with her husband and their three daughters, Christina, Camille, and Ciara.
Sheri O’Malley, Teacher
After receiving her BFA with a minor in Education at UMASS Amherst, Mrs. O’Malley relocated to Maryland, where she founded and developed a kindergarten enrichment program for the Montgomery County Schools. She also spent time teaching kindergarten in Maine, and then relocated to Falmouth, where she began her teaching career on the Cape at Teaticket Elementary School. She first served as a substitute teacher and then specialized in MCAS tutoring. She has been a part of the West Falmouth Preschool community since 2008.
